Belize is a small country, but still tough to navigate. We were lucky enough to be introduced to Daniel Itza. He knows the streets and highways like they were his own veins.

Daniel works for the Radisson but can also arrange specific trips for tourists personally. On our very first day in Belize he gave us a business card. I still have it and keep it in my wallet.

We were hoping to go to Altun-ha and the Belize Zoo but there were no day-packages for the two places together through the hotel. Daniel had no problems with it however and timed it perfectly so that we could make it a full day excursion.

But, not only did he act as driver, but he stayed with us through the Mayan site of Altun-ha and explained everything as far as the history, the structures and current issues with the site. And at the zoo he was great at finding good camera shots for us.

We wanted to give a special thanks to Daniel for his help. He is very friendly and accommodating, and he is quite reasonable when it comes to price. He even stopped in a few places during the road trip just so that we could get interesting shots of things along the way. If you need a guide, I can give you his contact information. I still have the card. But tip well. Once you see the Belize roads, you will know why you should.
